Por medio de la resolución 4(IV), la Cuarta Reunión de la Conferencia Regional sobre Población y Desarrollo, celebrada en junio de 2022, resolvió organizar en el segundo semestre de 2023 una sesión extraordinaria de la Conferencia Regional sobre Población y Desarrollo para conmemorar el 10º aniversario de la adopción del Consenso de Montevideo sobre Población y Desarrollo, destacando que era el instrumento más progresista en materia de derechos humanos en la región, por lo que resultaba muy importante examinar los avances alcanzados para su implementación.

Adela Cortina, Catedrática Emérita de Ética y Filosofía Política de la Universidad de Valencia (España), ofrecerá una conferencia magistral en la que abordará el fenómeno de las migraciones y sus retos para la humanidad: Migraciones, aporofobia y los retos éticos para la humanidad. Será recibida por José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Secretario Ejecutivo de la CEPAL.
La presentación se titula “Migraciones, aporofobia y los retos éticos para la humanidad. Reacciones ante la migración en América Latina y el Caribe” y forma parte del Ciclo de Conferencias Magistrales organizado para conmemorar el 75º aniversario de la CEPAL.
