About the event

The Sixth Session of the Regional Conference on Population and Development of Latin America and the Caribbean will be held at the Radisson Montevideo Victoria Plaza Hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay, from August 18 to 20, 2026. During the meeting, the Technical Secretariat will present the document Impacts of demographic change in Latin America and the Caribbean: Public Policy Challenges and Options, prepared with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). For their part, governments will report on national progress, challenges, good practices, and current priorities in the implementation of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development. All ECLAC Member States are expected to participate, as well as representatives of the United Nations system, civil society, and the private sector. Prior to the start of the Conference, preparatory activities will take place on August 17 and 18. On Monday, August 17, the Private Sector Forum will be held at the headquarters of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) in Uruguay. The Forum aims to accelerate the agenda of the Montevideo Consensus through private sector leadership, impact investment, and public-private collaboration.
