About the event

The Fourth Session of the Regional Conference on Population and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean will convene in a hybrid, in-person and virtual, format at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile, from 28 to 30 June 2022. The sociodemographic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America and the Caribbean and the challenges posed by the health crisis for the implementation of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development will be analyzed at the meeting. In this context, the Technical Secretariat will present a report on the sociodemographic impacts of the pandemic in the region, with recommendations for recovery and reconstruction within the framework of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development and will launch the website of the virtual platform to contribute to regional follow-up of the Montevideo Consensus. It is anticipated that all ECLAC member States, as well as representatives of the United Nations system and civil society will participate in the meeting.
